Hi Everyone,
Here are pictures of the finished trial version of the Jacob's Ladder book I created on at our last gathering.
These are the book I purchased for the alter book demo. I decided to go with board books because they are easy to work with and have few pages, so you'll be able to make a book (or most of a book) within an afternoon.
Hope to see everyone at our next meeting. Sheila

Coptic Binding
Hi Everyone,
Our next meeting is September 10th, we will be doing a coptic stitch book.
Here is the list of supplies you will need:
> Paper for Signatures - 10 signatures with 5 sheets each
50 sheets of 14" x 8.5" - folded in half to 8.5" x 7"
medium weight paper works best, such as sketchbook paper
> Decorative Paper for the cover, spine, back
2 sheets - 10" x 12" (This paper will be wrapped around Davy board, so it should be light weight)
> And also for the inside of the cover and back
2 sheets - 8" x 7"
Nancy can provide decorative paper if you need it, but you may have your own concept you would like to follow, so bring your own.
We will trim the decorative papers to fit, so the measurements above are estimates. If you have paper you want to use that larger or slightly (an inch or less) smaller, it will probably work just fine.
> Plastic containers for glue (Yogurt cups work great!)
> Old paint brush for glue
> 12" ruler - metal works best
> Self-healing cutting board
> Utility knife/xacto knife
> Curved sewing needles (You can use straight needles but its much easier with the curved.)
Supplies Nancy will have, but if you have your own bring it along:
> Davy board
> Book Glue
> Waxed thread or thread for the binding
> Bees Wax
> Awl
> Bone folder
> Sewing Pins
